ARTIST SHOUT OUT Sveta Dorosheva

So one of my favorite things to do on Sunday morning is to lounge around in bed and travel the undiscoverd paths of Pinterest fining amazing new artist that I may have never seen before. Where some people like to read the Sunday paper, some like to curl up with a book...I find nothing more laid back and relaxing than perusing the many pages of Pintesreat.
So I thought it might be fun to share with you this amazing artist I discovered Sveta Dorosheva. She does amazing black and white (as well as color) works that make amazing digi stamp images to use on cards so I thought I would share some of her work and if you get a moment in your day go take a peek at her amazing works on Pinterest!

IT'S A GUY THING

Hello Everyone!

So this weekend is Fathers day and it a time to take a moment and remember all the amazing things that your dad has done for you. My dad passed away many years ago but I still stop and think about him on fathers day and I am grateful that I was blessed to have such an amazing father. So even though I don't have a dad in my life any longer I still wanted to create something that will perhaps inspire others to create an amazing gift for their dads.
First I made a wonderful little vintage car book which was inspired by my best friend Cat Woody's dad Lloyd woody.....see he was a huge car fan and it was funny because every time he would see a vintage car he would shout "would you look at that Janet!" (his wife) and such joy would come over his face like a little boy at Christmas. He too was my surrogate dad when mine passed away and now he is gone too but never forgotten.

Now fathers day would not be complete with out a great fathers day Card so I grabbed one of the images from Gecko Galz Who's The man set and combined it with a stamp I had in my files and a banner from Opticillustions.

The next two cards are older cards but I love the techniques on them

For this card I used Paper Studio papers for the boarder and the image is Gecko Galz from their Heraldry collection and then used a glue pen and UTEE in gold to look like old metal.

For this card I used Gecko Galz  Sail Away collection and a piece of textured paper I tore and inked in dark brown and blue. Then I crumpled a piece of Gold velum and tacked it down with glue dots. The sentiment was from K & CO.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fathers day...send a card, make a phone call or pop over and tell your dads you love them!

THE BEACH LIFE FOR ME!

Good Morning Everyone!

Another amazing weekend has come and gone and this weekend I started thinking about some of my best summer weekend adventures and came to a conclusion...alot of them have to do with the beach!
I am very fortunate I live about 1 hour away from Galveston Island which is a charming beach community that dates back to the Victorian era. and I have spent a number summer days roaming about the island discovering new hidden treasures like amazing restraunts, little hole in the wall places and wonderful shops. I love the beach so much that I noticed that I have had a theme going for the last few years and it seams right around June or so I start createing amazing Beach inspired cards and treasures.
I thought it would be fun to share with you some items I made with a beach theme and perhaps it will inspire you to create something or even just hop down to the shore to hear the waves crash (nothing more calming). Please enjoy my works!

BEACH LIFE ALTERED FRAME

I did this frame for the 2015 Gecko Galz Retreat where I will be teaching how to make it. I took this nifty frame and added white paint to it to create a vintage look then added some amazing images from Gecko Galz. Then I added some cream tulle ribbon as well as cream silk flowers and seashells.
this is a great way to show off pictures you have taken at the shore!

BEAUTY AND THE BEACH CARD

So using the same girl from my frame above I created this amazing little card. I alcohol inked glossy paper in blues and greens for my background then added some fun fibers I found at JoAnn's and sprinkled on a few mini seashells.

RELAX CARD

So for this cute card I worked with Gecko Galz Mermaids Garden digital Stamps and some amazing papers by paper studio (including the banner). I created a tag to slip down inside the pocket but it is the perfect place to put a gift card for a summer birthday card.

BEACHY KEEN DAY CARD

So for this card  I used Gecko Galz Splish Splash Digital Stamps and their Beachy Keen papers. I also alcohol inked glossy paper as my background piece. This is a simple little card to brighten anyones day.

MERMAID CARD

For this card I used Gecko Galz Mermaids Garden Digi Stamp set as well as amazing papers from K & Co. I colored the mermaid using copic markers and then layered on mica flakes by stamping up.

SUNSHINE WISHES CARD

This was a more complex card but amazingly fun to make. I used Gecko Galz Splish Splash Digi stamp set colored the mermaid using copic markers. Then I cut out a 4" circle and with an xacto knife cut like a pie and pulled back the pieces to reveal the mermaid. Around the outer edge of the circle I created my own sand stickles by combining sand and glossy accents (or triple thick) and squeezed it on. Her bubble are created with glossy accents.

I hope you have fun and create your own fun ocean inspired works.

This month Gecko Galz has teamed up with the amazing store OPTICILLUSIONS and the design team was asked to come up with a design for their customers to create. My idea was a vintage time inspired wall plaque using Gecko Galz Miss Louise collage sheet and their Fab Frames collage set. I also used Opticillusions "Measure Of time" scrapbook pack, amazing ristic wire with stars I got at Hobby Lobby, Spare part film strip, vintage lace and trims, antique broken jewelery, and a clip by spare parts, typwriter key paper by paper studios, mini card from my stash..

PEEP SHOW ORNAMENT

Hello Friends and Followers!

So each week I will be sharing a sample to inspire you to make your own project for the Summer Cheesecake Challenge. This week I found the most inspiring little box at my local Hobby Lobby in the "Clearance" area and thought wouldn't it be a fun project to make a little shadow box ornament.
I started by painting the box with silver acrylic paint and let it dry. Then in photo shop I sized two of the girls from the "Summer Cheesecake" sheet to 3" tall and cut them out as well as the peepshow heart (which you can grab for yourself below) and the red and gold stripe paper from Gecko Galz "Life is a Circus" paper pack. The I over painted the box with Ranger Ice Stickles using a foam brush.
Next I placed the circus paper in the back of the inside of the box then layered on the girl with the bow around her waist (you can add 3-d items if you like as well) then glue on the lid with glossy accents.
Next I cut out the seated girl and adhered her to the right side of the lid and on the right upper edge I adhered the peep show heart. Then with my Viva pearl pen in white I added pearls around the window opening and the outer edge of the lid.
Next I took a piece of red ribbon from my stash and tied a double bow on the top. Then I have found this amazing round metal tag to the back of the box and tied another piece of red ribbon through the hole for my hanger. To finish it I used a large flower which I cut in haflf on the back as a fan. You can build any scene you want in these little boxes and use any kind of tag as your way of hanging your ornament.

Have fun creating and dont forgot to enter my challenge!

WITH A WING AND A PRAYER

“The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”

Today it is all about wings and thinking outside the box. So I looked throufh my images and found some projects I had done that had a beautiful use of wings. Everyone who knows me knows I love angels and all that they represent...perhaps it is that there is such peace to them. So here are a few designs I did with beautiful wings!

For these two altered domino pendants I used these fantastic metal wings I purchased at Michaels and images from Gecko Galz. They turned out to be unique and beautiful domino pendants.

For this project I found and amazing image from itKuPiLLi imagenarium  and layed up the font in photoshop then mounted it to a 4x4 piece of wood to create this little wall plaque.

So spread your wings take flight and create your own wing inspired creation!
