MAGICAL SNOW TAG

This is my second tag I did for the Gecko Galz 24 tags of Christmas and I tried a new and fun technique I hope you might try your hand at.

PRODUCTS USED

Gecko Galz From Russia With Love Collage Sheet
Large Shipping Tag
Printed Tissue Paper by Recollections
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Sapphire Blue and Gold
Ranger Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers and Vintage Photo and Black Soot
Stampabilities "Joy" Stamp
UTEE by B& J Art Stamps in Chunky Gold
Glossy accents
Smooch inks in Molasses, Pool, Pearl and Gold
Card stock in teal
Ribbon
beaded trim
and flower

HOW TO MAKE TAG

Take your tag and using ink blending tool cover top with your ranger inks. next cut a piece of tissue that measures 1" larger all the way around and crumple then start adhering it to the top of the tag using liquid adhesive (you want some of the part sticking up). Next take your Glimmer mist and spray onto tissue paper lightly, if you get a large spot wipe with paper towel. Let this dry for 30 minutes. While it drys cut out your image from the collage sheet (I enlarged to 5x3.5) and back with teal card stock. Next along the outer edge add glossy accents then sprinkle with UTEE and heat to create a vintage metal look to outer edge. Stamp with your Joy Stamp using your black ink and let dry. Now take your piece of beaded trim and using double sided tape adhere to the back bottom edge of tag. Then adhere image to center of tag at an angle and paint image in spots with your Smooch inks (this will create an inlay look so it resembles a Russian box). Pull ribbon through hole and place flower over hole.

Have a happy scrappy day

HAVE YOUR SELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS BOOK

So my Make it Monday sample this month is a fun little 6"x6" mini album which features an array of Digital stamps from the Gecko Galz 'Figgy Pudding' stamp disk. Also I combined them with amazing Christmas papers from Paper Studio and ribbon from May Arts as well as some odds and ends found around the Christmas section of Hobby Lobby. Okay so here is one of my most favorite things to do...go into a craft store and pick a section and make myself find something in that section that will inspire a project.....this time it was the Christmas section of Hobby Lobby where I found the charming rusted snow flake mini ornaments I used as my charms and also some mini swags for trim! and from these two items sprung the idea to do a mini book!

so I started with a 6x6 bare naked book by Bo Bunny and covered each page with festive holiday papers. by paper studio. Next I purchased a shaped wooden piece (but you can use chipboard too) and covered it with some great Graphics 45 holiday paper and distressed with pearl metallic paint added a paper doilie the punched the reindeer stamp using my Marvy circle punch in 3" and inked with red, green, and brown distress inks by Ranger. I layered them all onto the front cover and finished with a red bow.

The inside cover I used the angel Noel stamp to create a pocket and inked with the same inks as I used on the 1st stamp. With a piece of cream card stock and greet card stock I made a removable photo mat. On the next page I created a pocket pack with a 12x12 piece of red card stock and added a cream card stock photo mat to front along with a rectangle of green and red pop doted up for journaling as well as lace and a snowflake button with twine tied through the holes. Inside the pocket I placed a shipping tag for more pictures and tied a piece of Martha Stewart red tensile yarn through the hole.

for the next two pages it is the flip side of the first pocket page and another pocket page created using the same red card stock. I used a piece of my red ribbon down each outer edge of the pages and places a doilie in the upper center section of each page then using my reindeer stamp and holiday lady stamp created a pocket after inking them. I cut out a rectangle of Green and created a tag to slip into each pocket for hidden sentiments and as my pull tabs I used a piece of left over ribbon and a small snowflake embellishment. also in the second pocket page I added another shipping tag.

For these two pages it is the opposite side of the second pocket page and the front of the third pocket page. I took my decorative paper piece and tore in half then inked the edges with green and layered them on the outside edge of each page. Next I cut two green photo mats and using the banner stamps added text to the page. and like before I placed another shipping tag inside the pocket of the third packet page.

For the Next two pages I used the back side of the third pocket page and the front of the forth pocket page and taking my decorative paper followed along the design to create page toppers. Using green card stock I created a photo mat for each page and made a belly band using the small trim I found in the Christmas section. when you put this on make sure you only connect it on the non photo mat areas so your picture can slip onto the mat.

For these two pages I used the backside of the 4th pocket page and layered on trim at the bottom made from graphics 45 paper then the Santa stamp which I colored  with copic markers. Next I layered on my paper doilie and two photo mats in red and green. Then using bakers twine and a mini banner punch I created the banner he is holding which reads Believe.
On the inside back cover I did the same thing I did on the front inside cover creating a pocket with a removable photo mat.

For my Back cover I used another stamp and inked it again using the green, red and brown then mated it in green card stock with a piece of red behind that. I punched my holes using my crop-a-dile and added binder rings by 7 gypsies and tied on red bows and my rustic snow flake charm.

This is a great little gift to give to loved ones filled with pictures from Christmas Past!
So go out....challenge yourself and see what fun things can happen at the craft shop!

On the inside I layered in pieces of my butterfly paper (by Paper Studio) and a little sentiment card that reads "Make a wish  Do you have it? No believe in it with all your heart" using a piece of Jodi Lee papers. Last I put in a mini sticky pad to write wishes on.

SKELETONS IN MY CLOSET.....card Number 5

For my final card I used another of my favorite stamps by Gecko Galz from their SPELLBOUND stamp set and thought it would be fun to team up the image with their new Coven paper pack and some wonderful washi tape I got at a retreat I went to. I covered my card base with the paper from the coven sent then layered on some cheese cloth I got at the 99 cent store (notice I love shopping there) I bunched it in spots to create amazing folds and then tacked it down with fabric glue. Next I printed out the stamp image onto cream card stock and then inked using Ranger Distress Inks in Vintage photo and Spiced Marmalade. I used the washi tape to tack it to the top of the card, Next I added a fabric flower by Spare parts and three vintage buttons down the left side leaving me with a Skeleton card you would defiantly let out of the closet.
If you feel bold you can try your hand at dying the cheese cloth to match the colors in your card or use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist for a shimmery effect.

ZOMBIES AMONG US.....Card Number 4

So with the fascination with Zombies in full force I could not pass up the opportunity to do my own version of a zombie card. So for this little spooky card I started with my cream color base and layered on some amazing papers from my stash as well as a strip of brown card stock that I tore the edges and inked with gold radiant rain inks by Luminarts then I cut out the image of the victorian girl from Gecko Galz Vintage Portraits and adhered to the left side of the card. I stamped my Halloween sentiment by Studio 112 on cream cardstock and inked the edges to give a vintage feel. Next using my cream pearl pen by Viva I added pearls around the portrait. Now for something fun I took cheese cloth I got at the 99 cents store (In the kitchen area) and created a fun ribbon I tied around the left side!
To finish I took my pebbles chalks and darkened her eyes!

DIA DE MUERTOS! ....fun with Skullies Card Number 3

Today I thought it might be fun to go south of the boarder and celebrate Día de Muertos...or known here as Day of the Dead. For this card I started with a cream color card base and layered on black card stock then I used a piece of 7 gypsies paper from their Gypsy Pack to form the base of the Polaroid mat at the top I stamped my BOO! sentiment stamp by Studio 112 three times. I inked a paper cupcake Dolley and attached to back of the Polaroid base. Then I cut out my skullie image from Gecko Galz DAY OF THE DEAD collage set and created the Polaroid.
Next I ran a piece of black lace at the bottom of the image then on top ran a strip of May Arts Ribbon. I tied a bow using the same ribbon and placed it in the center and dangled a skeleton cameo I found at the 99 cent store (in the jewelery section).
To finish I added 6 bling to the doillie.
Ole now you are set to celebrate!
For another fun idea create the Polaroid card and instead of the skullie image add a picture of a party goer in their costume and hand out as party favors at the end of the night!
Happy Haunting!

NEVER MORE.......Ode to Poe Card Number 2

So Today I thought I would do an ode to one of my favorite writers Edgar Allen Poe with this Hauntingly beautiful card. As always I love giving my cards a little spin with a vintage flair so what better way to do that than with Some products from 7 Gypsies. I started with a cream card base and layered on Paper Studios Newsprint Bats paper then added three different papers from the 7 gypsies Gypsy Pack. Next I used a digital stamp from Gecko Galz Midnight Hour stamp set and inked it with vintage photo and spiced marmalade and on the edges black soot. I took a piece of burlap from the Gypsy pack and stamped with my sentiment stamp from Studio 112 and added 2 buttons I found in my stash. To Finish I added a piece of ribbon from May Arts.
Also you can make this in a larger format and do an incredible wall hanging!

ARE YOU A GOOD WITCH OR A BAD WITCH......Halloween Card Number 1

So this week I thought it would be fun to do a new card each day that celebrates one of my favorite holidays...that being HALLOWEEN! Muhahahaha!
So the first card I am sharing with all of you is an omage to one of my favorite movies...the wizard of oz and I am using a stamp that I just adore from Gecko Galz Digital Stamp Set MIDNIGHT HOUR. So I printed the stamp on white card after sizing it to 4" x 4" then inked it with Peeled Paint by Distress inks using my blending tool. Along the outer edges I used vintage photo to give that vintage feel to it. Nect on my cream card base I layered 2 papers from Paper Studio Textured Lime Green and Polka Newsprint in Lime Green. Next I added a Strip of Black Damask vellum by Paper studio and a strip of Lime green 7/8" ribbon by the ribbon Boutique. I placed the image on the left side of the card top and on the right added a small withches broom I got at the local craft shop. and there you have a bewitching card ready to send!
You can also make them smaller for place cards

HALLOWEEN MAGIC MINI SCRAPBOOK

To kick off my week of Halloween Magic I thought it would be fun to share with you a little book I did last year as a class at CKC. As everyone Knows next to Christmas Halloween is one of my all time favorite holidays so I always love cominng up with amazing little projects.
Now I have to admit something right off I was inspired by a book my friend Jan Stevens did with the little Gypsy images from Gecko Galz where she put a mirror with the book to make it interactive if you hold the mirror up to the secret messages you can read what it says...this is great fun for the kids.
Also the flower on the cover was inspired by Mellissa Francis who I met at CKC in Houston last year she was showing how to make these amazing flowers using her trims (any frilly trim will work). Now the crepe paper trim on the cover that is all my idea taking something you can find at the dollar store and just by pleating it make something stunning for all to look at. All the Collage images are from Gecko Galz and the papers are by Paper studio. Hope you have fun looking at it!
